Atlanta, December 6, 2018 – The 100 Black Men of America, Inc.’s Leadership Summit is in full swing at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. The 2018 Leadership Summit is taking place in Atlanta, GA from December 6-8, 2018. The theme of the summit is reviewing, planning, and advancing the blueprint for our future. The 100 Black Men are committed to developing and publishing the 100 Blueprint for securing the future of youth and the African American community.
“The 100 Leadership Summit features capacity trainings in critical business areas including finance, marketing, fund development, and best practices for non-profits, as well as civic and community engagement programs,” stated Thomas W. Dortch, Jr., Chairman, 100 Black Men of America, Inc. “Leadership development is essential to the success of our Presidents and their leadership teams and civic leaders across the U.S. and the 100 always designs training that will deliver capacity building that is targeted, specific and impactful.”
The 100 will recognize best in class chapters who have separated themselves apart from other organizations in their community with their commitment, dedication and results to mentoring, education, health & wellness, economic empowerment, and leadership capabilities.
The 2018 Leadership Summit features free health screenings for attendees to further promote the 100’s Health & Wellness initiatives. The health screenings will be for blood pressure, BMI, Cholesterol, and A1C test to determine diabetes status.
Throughout the mid-term elections, the 100 Black Men of America in conjunction with the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation team, activated the #RealMenVote100 Campaign throughout the country. Chapters and their members were asked to lead activations in their communities such as, having people sign their pledge promising to vote, registering voters, taking voters to the polls, educating people on the issues and/or candidates in their areas, and much more. At the Civic Engagement Breakfast, panelists will discuss the outcome of the mid-term elections and strategies on how we can stay involved and keep our communities engaged in future elections.
For the 2018 Man & Woman of the Year Reception, Cathy Hughes, the founder and chair for Urban One, Inc. will be recognized as our Woman of the Year. Benjamin Crump, the founder and President of Ben Crump Law, PLLC will be recognized as the Man of the Year. Algebra Blessett & Mike Phillips will provide live entertainment for the reception. Breakfast With Champions will feature American Civil rights leaders, activists, educators, and sports leaders. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask these champions questions on their journey and how they navigated adversity to ultimately better the lives of African Americans today.
During our Community Engagement Violence Prevention Panel, participants will have an opportunity to engage with panelists and learn strategies that can be implemented within the community for violence prevention. *This event is free and open to the public.
African American Leadership Forum will be a roundtable discussion regarding the importance of High-Quality Education & Performing Schools as it relates to students’ success and desire for higher education. *This event is free and open to the public.
